William McKegg
William McKegg has an arts degree from Otago University and a finance and strategy degree at the University of Westminster, London. He began his career in media at DMX UK, a distributor of digital music where he was in charge licensing across the UK and Europe.
In 1997 William joined Lord Lloyd Webber’s The Really Useful Group (RUG) as a commercial development executive promoting licensing opportunities of the theatrical copyrights covering stage theatre, film, television, music, consumer products, TV and games and on RUG acquisitions. Late in his tenure he moved across the business working closely with the creative personnel on new projects.
Back in New Zealand from 2000, William did a brief two year stint at an investment bank before leaving to co-found Lion Rock Ventures in 2002.
At Lion Rock he is responsible for the creative direction of the Buzzy Bee brand. William led the writing team and went on to direct the CGI animated TV show Buzzy Bee & Friends. He oversaw all aspects of the new Buzzy Bee™ children’s books producing four titles in 2009. While continuing to work on Buzzy Bee he is also progressing with some other projects including feature films and a stage theatre concept.
