David S. Rosenbaum
David S. Rosenbaum counsels clients in the video game, motion picture, television, publishing, licensing and merchandising, and amusement industries. David is regularly involved in the development, financing, publication and distribution of interactive entertainment properties and related technology licensing; mergers and acquisitions in the interactive industry; licensing and merchandising of brands, character, entertainment and sports properties; acquisition, production, marketing and distribution of live action and animated film and television productions; and comic book and book publishing and licensing.
David is regularly called upon to represent clients in dealings with their business partners throughout the world and has represented and continues to represent companies based in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand who have retained him to represent their interests in the United States as well as US-based companies which conduct business around the world.
David has practiced entertainment law since 1981. From 1981 to 1993, David held legal positions at Paramount Pictures, where he counseled on a wide variety of legal matters ranging from production, marketing and distribution of motion pictures to licensing and merchandising of character and entertainment properties. From 1986 to 1993, as Vice President, Legal Affairs for Paramount's Marketing Division, David was in charge of the legal and business affairs of Paramount's Licensing Department, where he played an active role in all aspects of Paramount's global licensing operations. Since entering private practice in 1993, David has represented leading publishers and developers of entertainment software and video and computer games.
David is a Co-Founder and first president of the Video Game Bar Association, the first independent bar association for lawyers around the world whose primary focus is representing clients in the video game industry. He is a frequent lecturer on legal and business issues in the development and publication of video games and entertainment software including at leading game industry events such as the Game Developers Conference and E3. In 2007, David joined the faculty of Southwestern Law School as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law, teaching Video Game Law.
